I have a story to tell and what's even better is that it's true. My family runs a farm. We have a variety of people working there: apprentices, field hands and kids. Last year are main man in the field (35 years old) was taken down with a rare form of spinal cancer. John made it. Today my brother and I are filling in beds w/ soil and grading them. Who happens to be in the car that drives up but John. He's out of the car, cane in hand, and walks down to us. After hugs and greetings, he wants to work. So, we get going with John grading (one handed) and bro and I on the wheelbarrows.

I had to go so my brother walked me up to my car. We turn around to see John (cane in hand) dumping soil in a bed then grade it (perfectly as he does every time). It was one of those moments when the scales fall from our eyes, and all our complaining, our whining during this incredibly easy life we all live (live 200 years ago, even as a King or Queen) and then you have this young man.

My brother emailed me after that John had an emotional moment before he left. He said one of the things that kept him going was to again be in the sunshine, working the land. The simple he treasures so much. Like walking, even if it's with a cane. Or preparing the beds. Or being here at all. Inspiration.

In the strangest of places we can get shown the light....

Thanks for the reminder that a daily prayer of thanksgiving is always appropriate.

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven

definitely inspirational...thanks for sharing

I hope the two of you survived the winter well. Spring is here so that should bring the antique hunters out. Good luck up there.
